CSAW is SOF’s 5.56mm assault rifle built around a simple premise: a civilian legal gun built for global conflict – anywhere, anytime, on anything.

At the heart of CSAW is a true free floating barrel system engineered to keep the barrel isolated from external input. Sling tension, hard bracing on cover, and pressure from improvised supports don’t get to steer the point of impact the way they can on less disciplined builds. That matters because real shooting rarely happens off a bench. CSAW is meant to be driven into barricades, against door frames, over hoods, and through tight shooting ports, without the rifle “walking” as the support changes. The result is repeatable accuracy under positional stress, not just printed groups.

The barrel spec follows the modern reality of 5.56: heavier for caliber projectiles are where performance lives when you’re pushing for consistency, wind stability, and terminal effect across practical distances. CSAW’s twist rate is selected with those heavier weighted loads in mind, delivering stable flight and predictable precision with the ammo that serious end users actually stock and train with, not just lightweight range fodder.

Durability is treated as a design requirement, not a marketing line. CSAW’s structure and interfaces are built to tolerate high round counts, aggressive handling, and the kind of use that turns “nice rifles” into paperweights. The external geometry is purposeful: barricade surfaces are integrated where shooters actually contact the rifle in real world firing positions, giving you stable indexing and control when you’re posted on cover, working angles, or fighting for a supported shot under time. It’s a rifle designed to be pressed into the environment, not protected from it.
